Elementary School Grades 6-8 | Earth Science | 4 Contact Hours

Utilizing the 5E instructional model as a framework for lesson design, teachers will delve deeper into the new Louisiana Student Standards for Science focusing on the practices of science, the 5E Instructional Model, and how to help students develop models to explain scientific phenomena.

Teachers should bring a fully charged laptop and a lesson to redesign to align to the 5E Model to the session. Educators have the opportunity to collaborate with other educators to create and share 5E Model lessons.

STIPEND AVAILABLE. Participating teachers will receive a $50 stipend thanks to support from the Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation. Core Element teacher workshops are free to teachers in the Greater New Orleans region. A $25 refundable fee is required at registration. The fee is refunded at the completion of each workshop. Teachers from schools outside the region may attend for a nominal charge.
